Voices from Arizona: Statewide Listening Circles
Commemorating the Voting Rights Act of 1965
Saturday, August 8, 2026
On Saturday, August 8, the League of Women Voters of Arizona invites you to join us online for Voices from Arizona: Statewide Listening Circles, a special event commemorating the Voting Rights Act of 1965.
Arizona has been selected by the League of Women Voters of the United States (LWVUS) as one of only five signature locations nationwide to host this national commemoration. While each location highlights the experiences of different communities, Arizona's Listening Circles will focus on the voices and lived experiences of Latino and Native American communities.
Throughout the day, community leaders, storytellers, and participants will reflect on the progress made since passage of the Voting Rights Act, discuss barriers that continue to affect civic participation, and explore opportunities to strengthen democracy for future generations.
Unlike a conference or series of speeches, these Listening Circles are designed to foster meaningful conversation. They create space for people to listen to one another, share lived experiences, build understanding across communities, and help inform future civic engagement and voting rights efforts.
Watch the Statewide Livestream
The Listening Circles will be broadcast live from Arizona's anchor event and will be available statewide through the League of Women Voters of Arizona's YouTube channel.
Whether you're joining from home, from one of our satellite gatherings, or anywhere across Arizona, we invite you to be part of this important statewide conversation.
